What is ALS?
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
My dear sweet Grandma Madsen had this awful disease & that's what ultimately took her from us back in March 2002. So when I heard about this Ice Bucket Challenge & the awareness that was being brought forth about this disease, you better believe we wanted to participate. We also donated to the research to help find a cure for this disease.
After the boys watched Mom & Dad do this silly thing, we explained in toddler form what this was for & asked if they wanted to do it too. Oh yes, they did! Gavin was pretty nervous about it, but Liam, he stood there like a champ & just took it. Haha!
