August is always a busy month, well let's be honest, every month turns out being busy, but what I mean is it's the end of summer, school starts & this August, Laura moves back to Utah. Boo! But more on that later.
I am new to this buying school supplies business as Gavin is only in preschool, but apparently there is a tax free school clothes/supplies weekend every year. Score! However, it didn't cross my mind that Wal Mart would be even more insanely crowded then ever. I am an idiot. Laura was with me dodging all the shoppers, splitting up to find supplies & barely making it out of there with any hair left on our heads. Bottom line, I'm not so sure saving that tax was worth the chaos. It was funny because as we were both standing in the check out line, we simultaneously reached over & grabbed for a snickers bar. Too funny!
We barely got our seat belts on before devouring that sweet goodness. Hungry? Why wait?
I love being a wife & a mother, but I definitely need & enjoy any alone time I can get. Thankfully I am not alone & can usually get a fellow mom to join me for some mommy time. This night it was Allisa. We met up at the movies to see Guardians of the Galaxy. I laughed that we were both wearing the same shoes, had wet hair & no make up on.
Sundays always call for some yummy dessert. We invited some friends over to help us eat this tasty Chocolate Pistachio Cake. It's one of my favs, but I never really make it that often.
Gavin & I finished off the Sunday evening practicing our head stands. Thankfully Doug captured us at just the right moment as we both didn't last very long.
These two love playing outside & they sure can get dirrrtay! And who doesn't love a good bubble bath? Those faces are to die for I tell ya. Liam totally looks like Santa with his rosy cheeks & white beard. :)
Gavin had his preschool orientation where we got to go meet his new teacher Mrs. Orsi & Ms. Nicole & see his classroom. I can't believe my boy is going to be in Pre-Kindergarten!
A random note I got from Gavin. It's good to know he loves me every now & then as we don't always get along. :) I HEART U 2 GAVIN!
I was introduced to a fabulous app called Chatbooks by some friends & couldn't wait to get started. It automatically takes your Instagram photos & puts them into these small books (60 pages) for you to have as a physical photo album. And the best part, they are only $6/each. And you don't have to do anything. I was super pumped when they arrived. Can you tell? I even had to take a pic of my picture books to post on IG. Haha!
The boys love to look through them! As do I. These are great because I'm seriously falling so beyond behind in our photo albums & this blog really.
Working out with Mom & Dad getting big muscles!
I love finding them in moments like this. Building a fort all on their own & playing so well together. Melts my heart.
We were at Sams Club & they had their Halloween costumes out. Way too early for crying out loud, but then again, I got suckered into buying the boys theirs because I was afraid if I waited, they wouldn't have their sizes left. Anyhow, Gavin & Liam were thrilled to pick out their costumes. And there was no way I was going to be able to say no to them when they wanted to try them on when we got home. So here's a sneak peek at their costumes:
Captain America & Hulk
I only let them try them on once because I didn't want them getting bored of the idea & trying to convince me into different costumes come October 31st.
Doug introduced these two to Sumo Wrestling one evening. It was pretty freaking hilarious & I wish I had it on video. Notice Liam's sumo pony & their underpants are pulled up in their hiney's. Haha!
We got to babysit the Steel boys so Drew could take Michele out for her birthday. While we were eating dinner I asked Mason & Tanner if they had done anything nice for their mom that day. They sheepishly replied that no they had not. So I suggested that they bake her a cake. Their little faces lit up with excitement thinking that was the best idea & would earn some major brownie points with mom. :) So we got busy & the boys all did great.
They did the entire thing all by themselves with my direction.
{Tanner, Liam, Hayden, Gavin & Mason}
And I did help with the writing of Happy Birthday Mom! Love these sweet boys. We're so lucky to have such good friends.
Playing with Dad's fancy camera. Love me those big brown eyes!
How did I get so lucky to have such handsome boys in my life?!
Surprise shot!
Practicing counting on those cute chubby fingers.

I hosted book club for the book: The Cuckoos Calling by Robert Galbraith AKA J.K. Rowling. It was a 'who dunnit' that I found quite captivating and good. It did have a TON of bad language so it's hard for me to suggest it to others. But it def had me guessing the whole time & I didn't figure it out. Haha!
I always like to make my food kind of go along with the theme of the book. I think it's more fun that way.I made mystery cookies because it was a mystery book. :) I used snickers & rolos in the center of chocolate chip cookies.
I made 'Strike Sliders' because the detective's names was Strike & he ate lots of pickle & cheese or egg salad sandwiches.
And then I just had some trail mix to munch on too. Don't forget the 'Dirty' cokes for all the dirty language. Haha!
Little Liam is getting to be a pretty good swimmer. He just finished up his session of swimming & got his medal. So proud.

The Chatbooks are awesome! I loved looking through them and reading them with the boys when we were there in November. Great job sweetie.
