One afternoon I received these texts from Doug. I was freaking out! I was beyond star struck & I wasn't even the one that got to meet Derek Hough. I'm weird I know. But seriously, how awesome is this?! I sure have a great husband who is willing to approach a star & ask for a selfie for his wife's sake. Haha! And IF I hadn't had a car full of groceries, you betcha I would have driven right on over there myself. Kids in tow. :)
Derek Hough was here on his tour with his sister Julianne. Apparently a fellow dancer's aunt is faculty at NOVA so they all came in to get their teeth cleaned.
This big guy wants to be just like his dad. :) How cute is that seeing him in Daddy's scrubs.
I made some homemade white chocolate creme brulee for book club when I hosted this month. They turned out fabulous! Oh so yummy.
Our friend Hayden turned 3 & he had a Woody & Buzz Lightyear birthday party. His mom Michele is one of the cutest, most creative lady's I know. She had this fun little photobooth with props for the kids to get their pictures. Love them all!
Being the annoying friends that we are, we just HAD to see these cute munckins one last time before they flew off & moved to Utah. My kids are going to miss Owen & Collette soooo much! As am I. And not seeing baby Dempsey grow is killer. It's so hard saying goodbye to friends. :(
I bought myself a new hat from my favorite store. Well pretty much the only store I shop at really. Haha! Can you guess?.....yep, Target! I love that it's a little different & I really like all the colors. It's the little things that can help perk you up from time to time. :)
While playing at the playground, Dad was knocking mangos out of the tree to see if we could get a ripe one. This one split open & Gavin was all over it. YuM!
Speaking of Gavin, he attended a 5 day Bible Camp at his preschool this month. He loved it! As did I. :) They had fun themes everyday that we both had fun getting ready for.
{Mix Matched Monday}
{Wacky Wednesday}
They did crafts, songs, games, stories etc. He loved seeing some his school friends there & making some new ones.
One day for lunch after camp we decided to continue the fun & eat out of muffin tins. As you can see, he thought it was a pretty cool idea.
The boys got some mail from their girlfriends Ella & Everette up in Orlando one afternoon. They were stoked! It's hard not having our good friends around, but it sure helps that they are now pen pals. :)
Our friend Heather has a ginormous mango tree in her yard & was giving them away by the bags full. Seriously, she would keep a laundry basket full in her car & give them out to whoever wanted them. Mangos are pricey down here & you can't just let them rot on the ground. In fact, she would see random strangers come around her yard to pick some up. One neighbor even posted a sign that said something like, "Please be courteous & only take a few per person." Haha!
We were thrilled to take some off of her hands. Aren't they beautiful? We ate a ton fresh, but then decided to slice & freeze them to use for smoothies.
MMMMM!
Doug's week off from school came upon us very quickly. In fact, I completely forgot about it until the day before. We usually travel to Utah over summer breaks, but since we were staying put this year, I didn't even think about it. Plus, Doug was flying to Tulsa, OK at the end of the week so that's all I had on my mind.
We used the time off to start cleaning up our yard. It's about that time that we will start to prepare to put our home on the market so we need to use all the free time we can get. We still squeezed in a little fun too, but the majority was spent outside workin. But before we could work we needed to hit up Home Depot. The boys, including Doug, love this place! It's like the mall for girls. Haha! They could stay there for hours. :)
I love picking out flowers to put in the yard. All the colors are just so vibrant & beautiful. I spotted a dragon fly on one flower & couldn't resist taking a picture. The details of this thing are so cool. Now those are what I call 'bug eyes'! :) With 20+ bags of top soil/mulch I think we're set. Haha!
Doug & I did most of the work while Liam was napping. We had Gavin out with us, but he only lasted about 10 minutes in the heat. It was a scorcher that's for sure. We were sweating like crazy! I have to admit that I don't particularly care for doing yard work & that's why Doug usually does it all on his own. But this was a family effort & I'm not going to lie, once I got my tunes a playing, I was really enjoying myself. :) It was fun working along side my man & helping contribute to the beauty of our home.
These two hooligans came out & played in the hose & rode around on their bikes while we finished up.
The Saturday that Doug was out of town, my sweet sister babysat the boys so that I could go redeem my Mother's Day gift certificate & receive my massage. I have not had a massage in FOREVER & was super excited about it. It was blissful & just what this momma needed. :)
We decided it was time to put Liam into swim lessons since he was showing a lot more courageous behavior at the pool lately. Before starting he was jumping off the side & swimming back, putting his head under water & holding his breath real good. We decided to stick with Just Swim Academy because even though they're a little pricey, they did such a great job teaching Gavin. The class is semi private with only two children per instructor. His coach right now is Molly. He has lessons once a week for 9 weeks. This was day 1.
All done & he had a great time! He did however get in trouble for throwing a pool toy & hitting another coach in the head with it. *Sigh* I wasn't really surprised. Oh Liam. :)
