Father & Sons Camping

The stake father & sons camp out fell on the same weekend that I was helping my sister with a bridal shower. It was perfect. The boys went off to play & get dirty & I was left to prepare & party. :) The entire week leading up to the camp out Gavin & Liam were beyond excited. Every time the saw someone they would tell them how they get to go camping with Dad. :) Doug had everything all prepped & packed the night before so they could leave right when he got home from school. We convinced our friend Marty that he should just take his daughter Sahara dressed up like a boy. Haha! Well he jumped on that one & they rode up with Doug & the boys.

Here they are all buckled up & ready to go CAMPING!

They camped at Jonathon Dickinson State Park which is about an hour & a half away. The boys helped Dad put up the tent & get things settled.

Then it was time for a camp fire dinner of hot dogs.
And a show it looks like too. I wonder what he was doing in this picture? Being a magician? Dancing? Who knows with that kid. I'm just soooo glad that Doug took pictures for me to document this experience.

Here Liam is while on his 'Bear Hunt'. Doug said the boys just went off on their own playing around in the bush. Sometimes, I think it's better when Mom isn't around. I'm sure they had WAY more fun without me being there to hinder their adventure by being too safe.

And there is nothing better then s'mores & scary stories around the camp fire at night. Of course the boys stayed up way too late. I got a text around 10:30/11 saying they just went to bed. But Liam was wired & didn't fall asleep until almost midnight. Exhausting. And when you camp, you rise early. At least our boys do. They were up at 6:00AM! Poor Doug. After breakfast they cleaned up & headed over for some canoeing.
It took me a second to notice what is in the back ground of this picture. Do you see it? Yep, that's an alligator. Kinda crazy how close it was to them.

They stopped for lunch & swimming at the dock. These boys of mine are fearless. Liam will pretty much do anything if Gavin does it first. Which can be a great thing, but also at times...not so much. Haha!

They were having such a great time with Dad! I'm so grateful for a husband who makes the time for his boys. It's these experiences that create memories & build relationships that will last forever.
