We have two sons, Gavin Douglas born September 18, 2009 & Liam Robert born October 14, 2011. We are so happy to be a family of four & love our boys so much! It is always one adventure after another in this house.

When Dad's Away, We Will Play

{August 1 - 4}
Doug had an Ortho conference up in North Carolina for a few days. I really hate when he leaves town, but we try to get a lot of fun in even though we miss him greatly. The day he left he didn't have to be to the airport until 12:30pm so we decided to start the long weekend out together by going to the beach!

Gavin is loving the waves these days & is getting quite good at the boogie board. Of course wearing Dad's mask helps too. :)

Boarding with a buddy is fun too!

Building castles with Dad is the best!

An elderly gentleman came up to teach us a fun new way to explore the ocean. You gather seaweed from the water & then on the beach you shake it out & go through it looking for fish, crabs etc. It was really cool!

Not quite sure the name of this fish, but how awesome is it? We were pretty stoked to catch him.

And we got a crab! The boys loved looking at all the sea creatures.
We had such a fun day & were thrilled that Dad could be there with us before he left town.

After naps, I found the boys on the couch like this. Gavin was reading the story to Liam. Melt my heart why don't ya! Love these rare & tender moments.

That evening we had our friend Joslyn & her two girls, Ella & Everette over for dinner. Their daddy has been gone for 6 weeks for medical school stuff. Don't know how she's doing it as single mom. I'm whining about 3 days & she has a total of 8 weeks. Yikes!

I just love it when the kids find this dental mask! It's so creepy & so funny. And they all love to wear it.
After dinner we went outside on the tramp so they could enjoy their push pop ice creams. Love this pic!

Friday we went swimming at our pool. The boys LOVE to ride in the very back of the car when we just go the short distance down the road. I'm talking like giddy little school girls excited. Haha!

Swimming with friends is the best!

That night Aunt Laura had a coupon for Sweet Tomatoes. So we decided to go out to eat for dinner. I was a little nervous to go through the buffet line with two wiggly, run-away type boys. Ok, just Liam is like that. Then we saw these babies. Yep, a seat on wheels. Someone was using their noggin when they made these.

Gavin was in charge of pushing Liam through the line so I could hold the tray of food. He did a pretty good job of it & it brought a lot of laughs from me & Aunt Laura. Haha!

That tongue just can't seem to stay inside his mouth for pictures.

When I asked Aunt Laura to lean in towards Liam for a picture he kept putting his arm up over her shoulder & saying, "Cheese!". It was soooo cute.

And the best part of Sweet Tomatoes is the very end of the meal. Soft serve ice cream. Yum! This one's for you Steph. He learns from the best! ;)

Saturday we were out running errands & the boys were being really good so I decided to treat them to a tasty Wendy's frosty.

Gavin takes after his Dad & prefers vanilla.
And Liam knows what's up & is like me. All over the chocolate baby!

We played a lot of dress up/superheroes that day. Dad is usually the one to take part in this play, but with him being gone, Super MOM had to step in. The boys thought it was pretty funny to see me wearing the Spider Man mask. As do I. Haha!

Never fear....the Super Heroes are here to save the day!
I just love my boys. It was fun to get into their play & interact on their level a little more than I usually do.
