The Shaw Family

Doug & I were married on October 6, 2005 in the Salt Lake Temple. We are currently living in the Dallas, Texas area. We have two sons, Gavin Douglas born September 18, 2009 & Liam Robert born October 14, 2011. We are so happy to be a family of four & love our boys so much! It is always one adventure after another in this house.

FFF {Florida Friends Forever}

Our good friends Devin & Lisa made the decision to move back to Utah so they could be close to Devin's family as his mom is sick with cancer & most likely not going to make it long. So sad that they are even having to deal with this kind of decision in the first place. Breaks my heart to see people you care about go through such hard times. We were so sad to seem them go as we've only known them for a year. But we quickly became good friends during that time. For that I'm grateful. Just sad to see them leave.

We took as much time as we could to be with them their last few days here in Florida. Doug came home Sunday afternoon & we were all so happy to see him! That evening we had the Graff's over for one last Sunday dinner.

These two have quite the bond. When we first moved here Liam was very hesitant around Lisa. He would never let her hold him & was always giving her the biggest scowls. Well he eventually warmed up & took quite the liking to Lisa. Once he started talking he would say her name, "Seesa". If we ever saw a small white car..."Seesa!". When we would drive by their neighborhood..."Seesa!". She was also his Nursery Leader so they had quite the connection to say the least.

Snuggles!

Monday night was Lisa's last GNO with some of her closer friends. It was also the Bachelorette Finale. These both made for the perfect Girls Night Out.

My little helper with making chocolate covered strawberries. He ate more than he helped obviously. :)

The evening started with dinner out at the Cheesecake Factory. Yum! However, I was sadly disappointed when I saw that they took my favorite entree off the menu. Boo! But it's still a favorite place to go & even more fun when you're with a bunch of friends. :)
 {Rozannah, Lisa, Cortney, Wendy, Brenna, Me, Laura, Ceri}
We all ordered our cheesecake to go so we could eat them while watching the Bachelorette Finale. Yay!

 And I couldn't resist giving everyone their final rose at the end of the evening. tee hee! I had so much fun with these girls & I hope Lisa knows how much she is loved & how much she'll be missed by everyone.

Tuesday the Graff's got their moving truck. I was planning on picking up Tyn to take her to pool group, but Ceri beat me to it. Great minds think a like! We were just glad to get her out of the house to play with her friends so Dev & Lisa could start loading.

 Okay, how adorable is that baby doll front carrier?! Ceri made it for Madelyn & I just couldn't get over how cute it was. :)

 After swimming & while the kiddos were down for naps, Laura was kind enough to babysit so that I could go spend some one on one time with Lisa. We decided to hit up Red Mango for some yummy fro-yo!

We had the place to ourselves so we just kicked back & had a great time. As fun as these moments are, I kinda hate them. It's hard to talk about stuff because you can't make plans or talk about what's going on in the next few days because they'll be gone. You don't want to just sit & reminisce because then you get sad. It's just hard. There were a few silences where I knew she & I were thinking the same thing. A few tears were definitely shed, but we held it together pretty good. :) I just loved being with her. Lisa was my 'it' girl down here in Florida. She is such a fun & bubbly girl that you just love to have around. She is going to be greatly missed for sure!

The night before they were to fly out they invited us over to their pool for one last family swim.

This kid is a bottomless pit. He could eat & eat & eat! Especially if it's pizza.

Here's a fun movie I made with this new cool app called Magisto. Love how it compiles my videos/photos into one movie.

We stopped by their place in the morning for one last goodbye before they left for the airport. :( As hard as it is to say goodbye to friends, it's nice knowing what a blessing it was to have them in our daily lives for a while. And we will see them again. :) Keep on keeping on. Love you Graff's!

The pic of Liam with his goggles upside down reminds me of one of you at the same age with your sunglasses upside down at Lake Powell:)
Isn't it great that Laura was able to watch the boys so you could spend some one-on-one time with your friend.
Also looks like one and all had fun at the Bachelorette finale.

I'm so sad that you had to say goodbye to Lisa. :( They looked like a great family. At least you had a year together! I wish I could have met her. Super cute girl! And way fun girl's night! Yay for Bachelorette!
