The Shaw Family

Doug & I were married on October 6, 2005 in the Salt Lake Temple. We are currently living in the Dallas, Texas area. We have two sons, Gavin Douglas born September 18, 2009 & Liam Robert born October 14, 2011. We are so happy to be a family of four & love our boys so much! It is always one adventure after another in this house.

Pool Time

We love the pool! And now that it's getting warmer outside the cooler water is becoming more bearable. Our pool is heated, but most are not. So when we go with friends it is pretty chilly.

We were the first to arrive to this pool playdate so we look like loners, but that didn't last long. Those steps were filled quickly with lots of little bodies.

Gavin never seems to mind the cold water when he's in it, but when he gets out he is a shivering mess with blue lips. Kids!

Liam preferred to stay more dry this day. He wasn't having any of the chilly water. My kind of boy.

Every Tuesday in our ward is the Pool Group so we rotate pools, but my favorite is the Harvest pool as there are 3 separate stair areas & a shallow spot for the slightly bigger children.

I also love how most of the pools down here have this type of ledge all the way around. It makes for a perfect play spot for Liam. And a good ledge for us mommies to hang out.

I'm gonna shoot you Momma!

How adorable are these two?! They laid out their towels & settled in for a snack. McKay & Gavin are two handsome dudes. This picture totally reminds me from when I was a kid & you would lay out on the ground to warm up. Crazy how Gavin is now entering long lasting memories phase. He'll remember some of this stuff for the rest of his life.

He also loves to take pictures with my phone. As he did with the above shot. I think it's cute, but it drives me insane when I get my phone back & there are hundreds, yes hundreds of photos or pure nothing.

A lot of the kiddos here use this type of floaty so we thought we would give it a try. He sure looks cute in it, but he's not a fan while in the water.

Liam totally panics not having his feet firmly on the ground. I'm sure it will just take some getting use to though.

Gavin on the other hand is excelling in swimming & loving it. I am so proud of him & all that he has learned in the last 6 months. He used to panic so badly on his back & now he will roll over no problem to take a rest/breathe. I put him with a new coach & it has made all the difference. Gavin is a difficult child in the sense that he will not do anything until HE wants to do it. But his new coach is a little more firm with him & it was worked wonders. He can now swim the length of the pool freestyle stroke & turn to his back for breaks. All unassisted. Wahoo!

It really is such a relief to know that he is water safe now. Clearly he still needs to be watched, but going to the pool is so much more relaxing now that I only have one child to be directing in contact with while in the water.
