Liam's 1st Birthday Party: Milk & Cookies

We celebrated Liam's 1st birthday on Saturday October 13th at the park with friends. First birthdays are kind of hard since the child really has no clue what is going on. So I went simple & just did a Milk & Cookies theme. It was perfect for the park!

 The Birthday Boy

I did a ton of baking that morning & thankfully had help from Rozannah, Holly & Laura. We had six different types of cookies: Whoopie Pies, Snickerdoodle, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, Frosted Sugar, Chocolate Chip & Peanut Butter Kisses

I saw these Cookies N' Cream cupcakes at the store & was thrilled that I didn't have to bake any. :)

It was fun putting all the cookies into glass jars. I loved how the table turned out.

I was so happy that I found these carafe's at Target. Such a cuter way to dispense the variety of milk versus the plain ol jugs.

And the milk bottles were my absolute FAVORITE part of the whole party. I got these from Target in the drink section. I purchased them as Starbucks frappuccino  4-pack & just dumped it down the sink. Yay! Now I have a set of 20 to use for future events. And the paper straws add such cute detail don't ya think?

 The Birthday Cake
The cookie cakes on top were such a good idea in my head as they would be what I took off for Liam to eat & smash into, but when it came time to execute the idea, they didn't turn out as cute as I thought. I point was still clear & delivered, but I would do it different next time. I was however, very happy with how the white cake with cookie & chocolate chip border came out.

This park is my favorite! It's specifically for kids ages 2-5. It's never busy & always clean. I love that there is no graffiti or trash etc. And the playground is perfect for our kiddos.

My friend Lisa & I were matchy matchy so we just had to snap a photo. You can't see it because my hand is around her waist, but we have the exact same watch as well. And I just noticed that our earrings are the same color. Ha! Great minds think alike.

Is that not the cutest face in the world?! I am obsessed with this lil man of mine!!! He was getting pretty excited about all the attention that he was receiving.

Of course he was mesmerized by the candles flame so he grabbed it & burned himself. I've heard of this happening to friends' kids, but I didn't even think about it when it came time to sing to him. Poor baby! Good thing he is distracted easily.

A little timid at first with everyone watching. We knew he would love it because being the 2nd child this was not his first encounter with cake or sugar. :)

"What's that you say? Oh, okay I'll dig in!"

And boy did he. Liam was completely covered in chocolate frosting loving every single bite! Just what we wanted to have happen. And I sure am glad that I took his shirt off too.

Taking a milk break to hydrate. Ah, those big brown eyes just melt my heart!

Happy Birthday Liam! We sure love you little mess maker.

Looks like Liam had a fabulous birthday party - cookies and milk, cake and all. I am sure that the delicious chocolatey cake took his mind off his finger. You never know what kids are going to do, do you? Thanks for all the pics and video it was almost like being there!

So sweet when Gavin starts to cry because Liam was crying after being burnt. Siblings, though they do fight, still adore each other!
