This big guy loves the water! He has turned into quite the fish since we've moved down to Florida. He does really well with the arm floaties & his life jacket & he has been doing awesome at putting his face in the water &
holding his breath, but this kid will not come up for air. It freaks me
out!!! He'll just walk off the steps & keep walking under water. Crazy boy! So we really want him to learn how to swim without those things and being around so much water all the time has made swimming lessons become a MUST!
The Big Day
Gavin could not stop talking about his swim lessons all day long! I probably shouldn't have told him about it so soon, but it worked as a good bribe for good behavior. Ya know, "If you're not a good boy than you can't go to swim lessons." kind of thing. :)
We got there a little early to get things taken care of & I wanted
Gavin to see the other classes going on so he could get an idea of what
to expect. I had a hard time keeping him out of the pool. He was ready
to go!
Meeting Coach Derek & his classmate Maia. Coach Derek takes turn with these two out in the water & when it's not their turn they have to sit on the steps. Well Coach Derek quickly learned how difficult it is for my son to sit still. I started getting after Gavin, but quickly stopped as I didn't want to be one of those moms that interferes with the teachings of others.
I just sat back & watched my little guy do his thing. He took to Coach Derek very quickly as Gavin is quite the social butterfly.
Practicing kicks & blowing bubbles
Using the kick sticks.
Gavin LOVED swimming lessons! He kept looking back at me & giving me thumbs up. We look forward to swim lessons every Tuesday. And now just after only 2 lessons, he has improved a lot. This makes for a happy momma in the $$ department. :)
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!"

Boy does that boy love water! from traipsing around in the Hurricane Isaac water to splashing around the pools and practicing his swimming! Love to watch Gavin in action. Give our little swimmer a hug!
So glad he likes the water - you'll probably have to watch him like a hawk around water though because he'll think he can really swim before he can. Awe the challenges of parenting.
