Our Family

The Shaw Family

Doug & I were married on October 6, 2005 in the Salt Lake Temple. We are currently living in the Dallas, Texas area. We have two sons, Gavin Douglas born September 18, 2009 & Liam Robert born October 14, 2011. We are so happy to be a family of four & love our boys so much! It is always one adventure after another in this house.

Home Sweet Home

I thought it would be fun to post some pictures of our house for the friends & family that have requested so. Okay, basically, Steph is the only one that has asked, but the rest of you get to enjoy these as well. :) I love seeing pictures of friends' homes because it gives me a better image of how they spend their days & so on.

Front view of our house from the street.

Our front door even though it's on the side. After I took this picture I realized that I definitely need something on that door. It's need a little boost for the bareness. :)

Okay I tried to take the pictures as you would walk through the home so you can get a good idea of the layout. When you first open the door this is what you see.

The kitchen, dining & TV rooms are all in one big open space. I love all the openness!

This is what is to the right of the door once you're in.

The kitchen view from the left side of the home.

The kitchen view from the right side.
I absolutely am in love with the island. Cooking, baking, preparing is so much more fun & functional when you actually have counter space. Which our home in Buffalo did not have & it was awful.

A view between the island & kitchen sink into the laundry room.

 Laundry Room
Doug added the cupboards & shelf to allow more storage space.

Now if you turn back around & stand in the kitchen looking towards the front door you will see this.

 The TV/Family room

And then if you turn to your left you will see the hallway that leads to the kids' rooms etc.

On the left of the hallway is the boys bathroom.

Right next to the bathroom is Gavin's room.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but he has quite a bit of floor space which is nice so he can play.

Then Liam's room is at the end of the hallway.

 Standing in the doorway.

 Standing by the closet

 Standing by the crib.
(that is Gavin's door that you can see)

Across from Gavin's room & next to Liam's is the office/sewing desk/misc room.

 Standing in the doorway.

Standing in the back corner of the room.

Now if you go back down the hall on the other side of the house is the master bedroom. It's just on the other side of the wall with the tv on it.

I love our room. It is so big!

Our closet is on the right behind the main door.

           The master bathroom.

Standing by the sink.

Our awesome garden tub. The boys have a ball when they get to take baths in mom & dads big tub!

 Turned around & facing out.

The backyard. Doug dug out the grass & laid the pavers to make a little patio. It was a lot of work, but he did such a great job! And thankfully there is enough yard that we were able to bring the tramp with us. It's pretty hot to really play outside right now unless you're in a pool, but in a few months we will be out here a TON!

The playground & pool are just a short walk away. It's such a great little neighborhood & we really like the area. We are close to the freeway & only 10 minutes from shopping. There is a grocery store like right outside the community so that is such a perk for those last minute runs you have to make. Our church building is only a 5-8 minute drive. We are about 15-20 minutes from downtown Fort Lauderdale & from the nearest beach.

So there you have it. We welcome any visitors that want to come down to sunny Florida! :)

I agree that I like this post in seeing where you are. I'm impressed. Love it! I hope you come to love Florida as much as you loved Buffalo. We're going to miss seeing you this summer.
Where did you get your Drapes? I love them. I think dressing the windows totally makes the house.
