Gavin is 2!

Yesterday was our little Gavin's 2nd birthday. I cannot believe that it has been 2 years since he was born & joined our family. My oh my how quickly the time does pass. He started out so small...

{Just a few days old at the hospital}

{6 months old & cuddly as a bear}

{1 year old & still my little baby}

{18 months old & sharing the news about becoming a big brother}

And has grown into this...

{My favorite}

{Little Cheeser}

A couple weeks ago we got these 2 year photos taken by our new friend Mallory. You can check out her blog HERE. After getting the pictures back I've realized that my baby is gone. :( He just looks like such a BIG BOY now!

A few things about Gavin at age 2:
*He loves his froggy & pup pup (for naps/bed)
*Still naps 1x a day
*Still sleeps in his crib
*Loves chocolate milk, applesauce, cheese, candy & 'yucky' (soda)
*He is a very good eater those above listed are just a few favs
*He still doesn't have his lower canines
*Loves to help dad outside in the yard or on the cars
*Can now pedal his tricycle
*Loves to give BIG hugs
*Still obsessed with sports balls
*Loves going to the zoo
*Knows his ABC's & can count to 10
*Has a new liking for Dora & Boots
*Always pulls his shoes & socks off in the car
*Knows where baby brother is & pats mommy's tummy
*Loves to dance like a 'maniac' on the floor
*Is generally a very happy little boy that easily pleased
*Loves his friends

We love our Gavin & are so grateful to have him be a part of our family. Being his parents is fun & challenging all at the same time. We love just watching him play & learn & often find ourselves asking "I wonder what he's thinking?". It just amazes us at all they learn & retain so quickly. Happy Birthday Gavin! Mom & Dad love you very much!!!

Saturday we had a little birthday party for our Gavin. Of coarse the theme was Sports Balls. How could it not be when he has such a love for them. :) It was a lot of fun & I was glad the weather held out for us to be able to hold it in the backyard.

{the invitation}

Because we went with the Sports Ball theme we thought it would be fun to have a Concession Stand for the food/snack/sweets. We had hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, cotton candy, home made oreos, pretzels, peanuts, giant pickles, & some fruit.

A few of the party guests. I think the kiddos had a lot of fun just playing around & sucking on their sports ball ring pops.

And of coarse it's not a party without a Pinata. It was hilarious watching all the kids take their whacks at it. Kadence & Kennedy were very timid about hitting it, but Clara & Ragan knew what to do. They beat it like crazy! :) Even though all the kids got multiple shots at the baseball it wouldn't break until Doug took a swing at it. I love watching all the kids scramble to get the candy. And I love even more listening to the parents telling them what kind to get. :)

It was time to sing Happy Birthday & have Gavin blow out his candles. The first attempt was done by his buddy Collin, the second was by the breeze & finally the third try he got it to do it. With a little help from mom & dad. Please take notice to the Utes logo on the football cake. Doug was very adamant about putting those on since Saturday was the big BYU vs Utah game.

Gavin was spoiled rotten by all of his friends. It was so cute watching him get so excited about each & every gift. Once one was open he didn't want to put it down to open anything else. He thought I was taking it away from him. He had a lot of help from his friends when it came to opening his gifts. Kids are so stinkin cute! It was a wonderful evening spent with our friends celebrating Gavin's 2nd Birthday! Thanks to everyone that helped make his day a special one.

What fun to see pics of Gavin at birth,6 mos, 18 mos and 2!! I'd forgotten how dark his hair was when he was born. He is such a little blondie now. Looks like the party was a huge success. Boy does it all look good. Wished we could have been there. Glad we got to skype yesterday!
Another successful party Rach - way to go! (Where did you find the energy?)
