Last Week

So last week there was a lot going on. Funny how you have nothing to do & then all at once there is tons to do. I'm not complaining though. I love to be busy & having fun!
My friend Briste was in town visiting her family & she was so nice to make time for a little playdate/lunch visit. Her husband graduated last year & they are living in Colorado right now. I must admit that hearing her stories of life after school is so appealing! I can't wait for that to be the case for us. Only a few more years to go! Her daughter Ivy is adorable & getting so big! She is only 3 months older than Gavin. And Collin is only 3 months older than her. It was fun watching them play & interact with each other.

Stephanie made the most delicious homemade bread for sandwiches. SOOO good! We set the kiddos up downstairs away from us mommies so that we all could enjoy our own lunch dates. They looked so cute sitting at their little table!

It was great catching up with a dear friend & hopefully we can visit again sometime soon.

Wednesday we headed to the Fire Station for our wards playgroup activity. Gavin loved all the big trucks! When we first got there we sat and watched one of the fireman get all dressed up in his gear. The point was to show the kids that they aren't scary, but are just like us only all covered up to help us. Gavin was watching in awe as the fireman suited up. But as soon as we were allowed to go up to him for pictures....he FREAKED out! He was pushing back up against me, had a scared expression on his face & no matter what I said it didn't change the fact that this guy was indeed scary!

I love that Steph actually captured a few shots of me trying to get him close to the fireman.

So after that fiasco they handed out fireman hats to all the kids & he was a happy camper.

Thursday was fun. The Carter's threw a Cinco de Mayo fiesta over at the Evans due to their backyard being too swampy from all the rain. It was a great time!

I made this banner last year so I'm glad it's getting good use out of it.

Some of the yummy Mexican food we devoured.

Wayne sporting an ever so appropriate mustache for the occasion. LOVE IT!

Me, Steph & Melissa enjoying our margarita's that the Moeller's made. Yum!

So it was also Travis' birthday that day & Steph made a homemade cheesecake that she had spent MANY hours on. She came out the door trying to guard the candles from the breeze & walk down the steps. She made it to the bottom & the candles were blown out. :( As she gave a shoulder shrug the cake platter tilted & off slid the cheesecake!!!!

I literally screamed. Not just because I felt bad for her, but because I had a flash of horror enter my memory of me doing the exact same thing on Doug's birthday years ago.

It really is the worst feeling in the world. Especially when there are people around watching the whole thing happen. Doug & Travis were able to get it back onto a platter only losing the top whip cream. I must say...it was the most delicious cheesecake I have ever had! So way to go Steph. Your efforts paid off. Even if there were a few bites of grass or gravel. ;)

Ahaha! That's awesome that you included the pic of you and Doug's cake! Glad I'm not alone in the "splatter the birthday cake on the floor" club :) It really is the worst feeling, huh?

The playdate with Briste and the outing to the firehouse were so fun! I love that our boys are good buds. We are lucky to have you as friends!

I remember how frustrated you were about that cake falling. I felt way bad, but we all laughed after, right? that was a fun night.
I've had similar experiences with Jayda not wanting to get too close to something. However, its more of a screaming tantrum than a sad, nervous look. Oh how I wish it were only a look. Sure love this age :)
