SPRING BREAK

We have been looking forward to spring break for a very long time! I have been so excited to have Doug all to myself! No classes, studying, nothing! Just family time! So ever since we've lived here I have wanted to go see a lot of different places that are so close. So this spring break we decided to hit up BOSTON!!! After getting some great referrals from friends on what to do & see we planned our little trip & off we went! I just decided to post my scrapbook pages because there are a lot of photos. So just click on the image & it should enlarge.

The aquarium was fun, but I felt a little ripped off from admission. I did see some creatures that I have never seen before so that was really cool. Gavin loved watching the bigger fish, sharks & turtles in the huge tank. He would just follow them with his eyes!

Our full day in Boston was spent walking the Freedom Trail. We started at the Boston Common & worked our way to Charlestown & back. It was a lot of walking, but the weather was pretty nice considering it was March. I found the State House pretty interesting & loved how they have kept everything the way it was so long ago.

We made our way to see different burial grounds & monuments. I learned that Ben Franklin was a high school dropout! Funny huh? And, Steph found Mother Goose's grave! Apparently her name was Elizabeth Goose & she had like 19 children.

We went up to Bunker Hill & decided to climb the monument. Not from the outside! There are 295 steps inside that make there way to the very top! The boys went first since we obviously couldn't take the strollers. They didn't say much when they came out so Steph & I just went in & got started. We were chattin away til about step 100. We were focusing on our steppin & breathin! Holy Cow this was a lot of steps! But we made it! Probably for the next hour or so if I ever stopped walking, my legs would just start shaking! It was hilarious! We went to see the USS Constitution but it was closed. Bummer! So we headed to Paul Revere's house & then hit a delicious pastry shop to get some treats! There is a Holocaust Memorial that was really touching. I read some quotes of survivors that truly broke my heart! It's hard to imagine the pain & suffering that these people had to bear & continue to live with. This was one of my favorite stops.

Our hotel had a pool & Doug was really excited to take Gavin. We got all suited up & we were the only ones in the pool area. Sweet! But Doug put on foot in the water & realized this pool was NOT heated like the website said it was. He wasn't thrilled about it & knew it wouldn't be pleasant. So we snapped some shots & then headed back to our room. So Gavin's 1st Pool experience was hardly one at all!

Our last day in Boston we took a tour of Harvard! It was really fun to walk around & see the campus. We learned that all the movies we see with Harvard in them aren't actually filmed there. I guess a while back a movie was being filmed there & caused too much disruption to the students & campus. So all movies were banned from filming on location. I thought that was interesting. Steph was is high heaven being there! I think it is great how much desire she has for education & just loves being a student & learning! We of coarse had to purchase our Harvard T-shirts too! We then ate at this college burger joint, Mr.Bartley's. All of their burgers are named after different political figures. I ate the Joe Biden! ;) It was really tasty!

We had so much fun experiencing this city & all of it's history. We look forward to going back in the summer or fall sometime to do more things that we couldn't really do this time of year.

FUN! I'm way jealous and that's so fun that you got to go with the Evans. It's too bad the water in the pool was too cold to swim in. He'll get more chances in the summer though. And Jayda did the same thing with her first rice cereal experience. Just sat there for a minute, deciding whether she liked it or not. He is getting more cute every day. Can't wait to see you guys in the summer again. Lets go swimming!

What great photos! Really makes me want to go to all those places. We've never really toured Boston's sites. We'll have to come and have you give us the tour sometime. You all look like you had a terrific time, even Gavin in the cold pool!
