So I've been meaing to do this post quite a while ago, but am just getting around to it. Just a WARNING...This is a long one! I have to take a minute and brag about my fantastic hubby. As many of you might already know, Doug is very handy. He knows how to build, fix & create anything! If he doesn't, he learns how. That is one thing I love about him. He is always up for anything whether it is challenging or not. Me on the other hand, I like to stick to what I'm good at. :) However, one thing I feel I am good at is hair. Well at least I have a passion for it anyhow. And I love to be creative! I'm not going to lie, leaving the salon back home was very difficult for me, but I didn't really want to go through all the hassels of licensing in New York to work at a salon. But I just could't bare putting my talent on hold either. I wanted to do hair from our home, but really needed...okay...wanted a salon atmosphere. However, salon equipment is very pricey so we had to get creative. I started searching wonderful Craigslist.com & probably calld a billion people. Finally I found a lady that was moving into a new salon with all new equipment. So she was selling all of her current stuff. JACKPOT!!! I got from her the hydrolic-cutting chair, mirror, station, shampoo bowl & color cart for a killer deal! We later found a salon equipment showroom just down the road a ways & got the reclining shampoo chair. I was set! So now we had all this stuff, but to put where? Doug decided that on top of all the work he put into our house already, that we would design & build a STUDIO for me in a section of the basement. What a guy right?! And so the work began. Now the basement only had cement walls so he framed out the whole area & sheet rocked it all. He did all of the electric wiring & all of the plumbing. I mearly picked out the color of paint, pointed to where I wanted things & that's about it. I was a good cheerleader though. :) I just have to give a shout out to all those that let Doug borrow tools, time & help. He couldn't have done it without you. So here are some before & after pictures of my hair studio. I absolutely love how it turned out!!! Thanks Doug for being the best husband & hard worker! It means a lot to me that you support me & my passions.
BEFORE
Let's just say it got a little dusty down there when he started sanding!
The curtains were my dad's idea! It helped enclose the area from the rest of the basement & is an added bonus for the decor. Thanks Dad!
So there it is! I'm still in the process of decorating, but that will take time. Thanks Doug for my wonderful space!

Wow! I'm totally jealous! I love it! I'm torturing the people that come to get their hair done - I do it in our TINY kitchen, and make them dunk their head in the tub. Sad. One day...
