The night before we had to leave we had a nice grown up only dinner with Doug's family. We don't do that very often & it was lovely getting to visit with just the adults. We ate Bonsai which I love! It's so fun watching them cook right in front of you & the food is delicious! Poor Kimmi couldn't come because both the twins got sick.
We got up early to hit the road as there was to be snowy weather along the way. Yes, that's right. Hit the road. Doug's dad got us a new car & we drove it from Utah to our new home in Dallas, Texas.
Saying goodbye is never easy or fun, but we sure are glad we got to spend time with family.
First stop....Gallup, New Mexico!
Sure was a sight to see driving through all these gorgeous mountains.
After a long 8-9 hour drive we finally made it to the Evans home! Such a good feeling being joined together again as families.
The boys didn't hesitate at all jumping right into super hero mode! These kids crack me up!
Everyone wanted a turn at being the gold ninja.
Sweet Olive didn't take long to let me hold her. She is just the cutest lil thing!
Steph always goes above & beyond making us feel welcome in her home. Of course it was spotless & the fixins for some great food were happening. We ate elk steaks that Trav got for dinner! They were tasty! Bron Shaheen joined us for dinner as his family was still out of town. It would have been complete if Megan had been able to be there. So many great memories with the six of us. The kids just ran around their very LARGE house playing & us grown ups got in a lot of good chatting time. In fact, we stayed up til like 1 o'clock! Which I was ok with because I new the next night even though it would be New Years Eve we would need to go to bed at a decent time for the long drive ahead.
New Years Eve day was spent just kind of lounging around. The car had a flat tire that Doug had to fix so while he was busy with that I chatted Steph up in the kitchen while I watched in awe as she made homemade bread. Seriously, love her to pieces & admire all the many talents she has, but I sometimes feel inadequate as a housewife after hearing/seeing all that she does. :) But hey! At least I got to reap the benefits of eating it. Yum! I cut her hair which was fun & brought back the ol days of my Buffalo basement salon. We also went to Travis' office to check it out. Way nice set up!
For our evening celebration we started out with making homemade sushi which was really fun to do & REALLY good to eat!
The kids loved running around making lots of noise with their noise makers!
Netflix is genius & created a countdown for kids that you can play at any time you wish so that your kids think they are ringing in the new year, but not having to stay up til midnight!
Right after the countdown he went outside to light our sparklers. It was freezing, but everyone had fun...for a little while. :)
All cozy & warm in their jammies & ready for bed.
After the kids went down us grown ups got enjoy some peace & quiet as we rang in the new year chatting away as us besties do best! There really is nothing better then being with Stephanie & Travis. Us wives have been lucky to see each other more often, which I love. But it really is the best when all four of us are together. Can't believe it has been over a year since I've even seen Steph. It's a great thing when you can just pick up & go with it!
A little bubbly to celebrate the New Year 2015!
For reals though..how can they fit those in their mouths?! Haha!
We left really early in the morning to get on the road. It was so much fun getting to stop & spend some time with the Evans family. We sure love them to pieces!
