"I'm so glad when Daddy comes home, glad as I can be." Oh, that's for the kids to sing? My bad. Haha! I do look forward to when 6:00 rolls in as I get to witness complete joy come over my boys as their dad comes through that door. It really does melt my heart to see how much love they have for him. Doug is such a wonderful father. He's always so willing to get down & play with them no matter what. He loves to teach them how to do things & is always willing to let them help him with projects or whatever he's working on. I could not have asked for a more loving, caring, giving, fun & involved father for my children. We were thrilled to help him celebrate his special day.
Doug & I have been watching MasterChef & one of the challenges the contestants had to do was prepare Eggs Benedict. After watching the episode, Doug looked at me & requested that for his Father's Day breakfast. I'm not gonna lie, a little panic was setting in as I have never before poached an egg without a poacher nor made hollendaise sauce. And after watching these at home chefs struggle I was positive I would ruin it & it would be a flop. But he reassured me that it didn't matter & that it would be fun to do together.
What do you think? They turned out great! The timing of everything is the real challenge. 1 out of 4 eggs turned out perfect. The others were either too runny or too hard. But the hollandaise sauce was delicious & I can now say I'm no longer intimidated by this dish. :)
Our homemade cards for Dad. I love seeing Gavin's handwriting. It's so cute. And my origami shirt & tie turned out pretty good too.
The boys helped me put together a themed goodie bucket for the Worlds Greatest 'Pop'!
Daddy's make for the best horsey rides! Such a good sport that one. :)
After church we napped & then had dinner. Steak, garlic potatoes & asparagus. I made him is favorite strawberry jello pie for dessert.
He told me it was a great day & that we were successful at showing him how much we love him.
