The Shaw Family

Doug & I were married on October 6, 2005 in the Salt Lake Temple. We are currently living in the Dallas, Texas area. We have two sons, Gavin Douglas born September 18, 2009 & Liam Robert born October 14, 2011. We are so happy to be a family of four & love our boys so much! It is always one adventure after another in this house.

Play, Play, Play

We spend a lot of time just playing. I guess it's one of the perks to living in a warm climate year round. Or maybe it's just because I have two energetic boys & they need to get their wiggles out. I'd say a little of both.

The neighborhood kids love to come over to jump on our trampoline. Thankfully they are all pretty good about including my boys as they are all older children. These girls just adore Liam & he doesn't seem to mind the attention either.

I don't know what it is about my boys & their love for grown ups shoes, but they are constantly putting them on on truckin around the house. It kills me every time!

We went to the YAA Museum twice in one week. Boy was that a treat!

The first place they run to is to the STOMP room. They love drumming on all the cool objects.

Gavin always has to set the drums up just right before he can start jammin. He is actually pretty good. A teacher that was there with her school told me I should put him in drum lessons. She aparently is a drum instructor & said he has real potential to be a great drummer. :) HA! It made me laugh & it did make me feel good hearing that praise about Gavin from a stranger. But ya right! I'm not giving this kid drums, he'd never stop & I'd go deaf. Hmm....maybe that's not a bad thing after all? haha!

Liam putting on a puppet show

Gavin & Owen made their own puppets & performed them on the big stage.

This music lady was awesome! It really does amaze me how some people are just made & meant to interact with kids. Everyone loved her!

Liam wanted a taste of my hot chocolate one morning.
 Thinking about it...
Give me that cup!

 Ahhh! Soooo tasty.
He was quite satisfied. And he was a complete mess. But I didn't care. It was too darn cute to watch to worry about the mess.

One Sunday afternoon we went for a bike ride to the park. Doug had brought his fishing pole & when he got to the water & looked down this is what he saw.

About a buhgillion tadpoles swimming around. Gavin thought they were pretty cool & wanted to take them home. So Doug found a cup & scooped some in to take back home so we could watch them grow into frogs.

  My little cheeser!

Sometimes when you go, go, go you pick up a little bug along the way. My poor baby got sick for like 48 hours & was just miserable. This was a bath given in the middle of the day hoping to put him in a better mood. Just look at those sad/sick eyes. Breaks my heart to see my babies sick.

When Liam wasn't feeling well I didn't want Gavin to miss out on the mall activity since I had already talked to him about it. (I wanted to avoid a melt down) So Rozannah was a saint & picked Gavin up to take him with her & Solo & Wren. He had a great time with his friends & even got to go back to their house for lunch. :) He wasn't thrilled with me when I came to pick him up & take him home as you can see by the crusty look, but I had to snap a pic of his cool dragon face painting.

 More playing in Dads shoes.

'We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine!'

K, let me explain these next photos. We were at the mall doing some shopping & I noticed Gavin was paying a little extra attention to this kid sized manican. I don't know why I found it so humorous, but I did. I'm pretty sure he talking to it too.

He didn't know I was watching, but once he did he sheepishly moved away & I told him to go back for a picture. This silly kid pulled out his moves on this girl. Haha!

They're so glad when daddy comes home, glad as they can be!

At dinner Liam started saying/whining "poo poo!". I checked his diaper & there was no poop. But he kept saying it & leaning to the side. So I asked him if he needed to go poo poo & he said, "Uh huh!". So I got him down & he immediately ran straight to the bathroom. I put him up on the potty & told him to push out the poop & sure enough....HE DID! He actually pooped in the toilet! What?! I was totally shocked & couldn't believe it.

I kinda started freaking out as I'm not really ready to potty train him. Well turned out to be a one time thing. He hasn't gone again since. But here's to hoping it will go smoother & be easier than it was with Gavin.

Liam is starting to come out of his shell a little more these days as long as I'm close by. He loved dancing & singing & playing with the bubbles at the mall.

 Time to draw & color!

Sometimes all this play wears Gavin right out. This is how I found him one afternoon when I told him to work on his letters. Sweet sweet boy! Touches my heart when I see him like this.

We love Chick Fil A, but it's even better when its with friends & on the family night. Our friends the Wendt's invited us to join them for dinner per request of their son McKay. :)

These boys even got to sit at their very own table! So cool.
They had a face painter there & with no surprise, Gavin wanted to get his done. He didn't tell us what he was going to do either so you can imagine my surprise when he came back looking like this.

A scary skeleton! He loved it!

Phew that was a long & random one indeed. I really need to get better at staying on top of this blog.

OH that skeleton face is hysterical! Loved Liam's hot chocolate photos. And his teeth! He has so many now! That was sweet of Rozannah to take Gavin to the mall. That museum looks awesome! I need that drum room in my house... in a sound proof room of course. :)
