A lifestyle change

So a little over a week ago, Doug & I decided we needed to be serious about eating better & making better choices when it came to our health & bodies. So to kick start our bodies we chose to follow a 7 day cleanse. It's called the GM diet. It was supposedly started in the 80's at General Motors to help their employees lose weight & gain more energy. Here is the link to the website that we chose to follow.
There are a lot of versions out there & I heard last night from a friend that it may even be a myth about the fact that General Motors created it & used it. But I don't really care where it came from or who started it because we did it & had great success!

This diet was supposed to help you lose like 10 pounds in 7 days. I was skeptical to say the least. We had talked about doing that lemonade diet, but I didn't want to do an all liquid diet & be miserable. So when I came across the GM Diet I really liked that you were eating all week, but mainly fruits & vegetables. I knew we could do this if we really committed to it. I went shopping & bought all the items we needed for the week. We had to do it now because we had a TON of fruit & veggies that couldn't go to waste. We started last Monday & finished this past Sunday. We did it!!! We actually did it & never cheated. Doug lost 11 pounds & I lost 7 pounds total. We couldn't be happier with our results.

Our experience was definitely a challenge to say the least. We both struggled daily to keep up with it. I'm so glad to have a partner in life that is willing to help me through the hard times & encourage me to not give up. I even helped him stay strong on some nights of just wanting a little bite of something we weren't supposed to partake of. :) It was so much easier to follow with someone else doing it along side you. This really is just what we needed to start better eating habits, portion control & healthy choice making. Losing the 7lbs is wonderful, but I am more grateful to have finally learned some self control. I highly recommend this diet to anybody that has hit a plateau in weight loss, suffers from poor self control & who wants to have a good healthy cleanse to feel & look better. I will most definitely do this again. It would be great to do after the holidays when we all tend to eat a little bit too much of the bad (but oh so good) foods.

I challenge anyone & everyone to try the GM Diet

P.S.
When we finished the diet on Sunday it was really hard/weird to eat the foods that we weren't allowed for the previous week like breads, dairy, sweets. In fact, Steph made us some chocolate chip cookies that we were so excited to eat & after eating 1 1/2, I felt sick. I'm not going to lie, by the next day I was able to eat another without feeling sick & I thoroughly enjoyed every bite! But I truly haven't had any cravings for the sweet stuff. Yay!

That's so awesome that you did and kept with it! I seriously don't know if I could do it, but after our cruise I know it would have felt so good to try something like this.

You're my inspiration! :) But seriously, I'm pretty sure I would have cheated by now if you guys hadn't paved the way. Today is actually the first day I FEEL skinnier. It's not a bad feeling. :) Thanks for the motivation!
