The Fun We've Had While Dad Is Away

So Doug comes home tomorrow. Wahoo! I seriously can't wait to see him. Gavin & I have both been missing him like crazy. I thought after a few days Gavin would stop asking for him, but that never seemed to happen. He still repeatedly asks for Dadda all day long, everyday. Typically that gets really old, but since Doug really is gone & isn't coming home, it just breaks my heart! I really can't wait to see Gavin's face when he finally gets to see his daddy again.

Anyhow, while Doug has been off having the time of his life we decided that we were going to have some fun while he was gone. My sweet mom came out to keep us company last week & it was pure bliss having her. I seriously don't know how I would have handled it without her. I would have been so lonely! She flew in on a Friday & I had already dropped Gavin off with the babysitting swap so what better to do than go eat at the Cheesecake Factory. I seriously love that place & don't get to go there very often. We spent the night chatting away & catching up. It was so nice to have her all to myself too. Well, only at nighttime because she was busy being a fun & playful Grandma with Gavin during the daytime. It was so fun to see her interact with him. He loves to play 'chase' & he got her involved in that game right off the bat. She would read him stories, build towers with his blocks & let him knock them down & well pretty much whatever he wanted to do really. :) We went out shopping a few times, out to lunch or dinner. We even were able to go on a few walks due to the weather being rather enjoyable. We also made it out on two little adventures that we've never done before. One being the Explore & More Museum and the other the Botanical Gardens.

Explore & More Childrens Museum

Gavin LOVED this place! From the moment we walked in he was beaming with excitement. He just kept saying, 'Whoa!" whenever he'd something he liked.

Trying out the different foods from different countries with Nanny. (Gavin cannot say Grandma. So she thought we should try Nanna. But whenever we would say that he thought we were talking about bananas & would want one. We tried to get him to say Nanny & he got it right off.

At the fish market

He had a great time in the kitchen. As soon as a little girl came in, he ran straight to the fridge to protect it. Silly kid!

Picking carrots from the garden

Playing on the boat. This place really was so great for kids. There was so much for them to play with. We will most definitely be going back.

Botanical Gardens
A lot of our friends have been to the Botanical Gardens before but this was our first time going. It was so nice & warm inside. Seriously a wonderful feeling to experience here in dreary Buffalo. I want Spring to come so badly! We met up with our good friends Steph & Collin & his grandma Paula. Weston came too, but he spent the time sleeping in his carrier. The boys did pretty good. I wish I was smart like Steph & brought Gavin's backpack leash. Would have been a great place to use it. I only had to carry him through the cactus room though. He did great at holding my hand & walking.

Gavin, Me & Nanny

The boys were so cute! They loved the fish pond & the orange fish. I can't get over how big they are getting. They're not little babies anymore.

Overall we had a really great time having Nanny here with us & already miss her like crazy. Thanks again mom for making the trip!

I'm glad Gavin liked the Explore N More so much! We need to hit that place up again. The Gardens were fun to go to with you guys. I'm so glad our little men enjoy each other so much. P.S. Lovin' your bangs.

how fun to get your mom all to your self! is it weird that i'm already looking forward to that aspect of living out on our own? right now, we're lucky to visit for an hour or two when we go up for sunday dinner, and i'm kind of excited for when i have #3 (not yet) and we get mimi all to ourselves for a couple of days!
