Girls Get Away

This weekend was definitely one to remember. For the last couple years us four friends have been talking about doing a girls trip. But with kids, hubbies in school & well, time just slipping by so quickly it hadn't & maybe wasn't ever going to happen. All three of them are expecting & will start having babies here next month. Then, two of them will be moving away this spring. So Steph & I decided it was now or never! So with only a week of planning we were off on our little Girls Get Away trip. Destination: Toronto

We left Friday evening after our husbands all got home from school. I was getting more giddy & excited as I went from house to house picking the girls up. We stayed in Brampton which is a little outside of downtown Toronto. As soon as we arrived we went straight to dinner.

We ate at Casey's Bar & Grill. It was nice & the food was pretty good.
After dinner we went to check-in at the hotel & then we headed to the movies. We saw The Dilemma with Kevin James & Vince Vaughn. It was pretty darn funny & I was thoroughly entertained. Poor Megan wasn't feeling well towards the end & had to make a dash for the 'washroom' as they say in Canada. She must have caught a bug or the darn prego sickness hit her pretty good. So off we went to the hotel to get comfy & hang out.

I'm not going to lie. I was fully prepared to munch junk food all night long! And that I did. Thankfully Steph had the same idea. I think we brought enough goodies for a week. And yes, that is Easy Cheese you see me holding. The stuff is SOOOOO good!

Of coarse it wouldn't be complete if we didn't uphold the mans ideal of what really happens at a girls night.

Pillow Fight! Poor Steph was the target for both me & Crescent.

There was only a few swings & hits, but fun non the less.

Megan was seriously a trooper. Not feeling well is the pits, but she didn't let that stop her from staying up way too late with us chatting the night away. I think the clock read 3:40am the last time I looked before I was fast asleep.

After sleeping in & eating breakfast we got ready & the were off to the temple. None of us had ever been to the Toronto Temple before so it was a rather exciting experience. It is a bigger temple so there were a lot more session times to choose from.

Our group was pretty small & boy did that make a difference in how quickly the session went. We were in the Celestial Room for like 20 minutes just the four of us. It really was so nice to be able to share this experience with them. I am so grateful to have such good friends in my life.

Steph, Me, Crescent & Megan

We were making our way to downtown Toronto when we was IKEA from the freeway. It didn't take long to make the decision that we needed to stop.

This place is always a little overwhelming with how much stuff they have. It was fun getting ideas & dreaming about the days when we will all be settled somewhere & be able to pick out everything in our homes. Of coarse the majority of the purchases were for our babes. Silly moms!

We went to the Eaton Center Mall for some shopping & man, that place is HUGE! There are 3 floors of stores. We didn't make it through all of them because the lame place closes at 7PM.

H&M is always a favorite. Crescent was looking for some cute pants that she could use as maternity. Steph & I tried to talk her into these beauties, but she just couldn't visualize. ;)
Seriously though, some of the trends out there I just can't wrap my head around.

The plan was to go to a Monster Truck Show at the Rogers Centre. It seriously would have been a memory I would never forget. It's white trash to begin with & then we would have topped it off by attending with 3 pregnant ladies! But by the time we had to make our decision, there were too many yawns, tired feet & snow was beginning to fall. So we decided to head home.

I must admit that driving by the centre & seeing the spotlights made me a little bummed we didn't go. We'll just have to go some other time.

The snow was pretty bad driving home & we saw a few cars that had slipped off the freeway. I was thankful for a good car to get us home safe & sound. Thank you husbands for taking care of our babes & letting us escape our motherly duties for great girls get away!
