Laura Came To Buffalo

My sister came to visit us last week & we were thrilled to have her! She's been here before but once in February {brrrr!} & then when I had Gavin. Not that there has to be a reason for to come visit, but coming in the fall is a great time to see New York. We did a lot of fun things, but also didn't want to spend her entire time here driving in the car. So we had some good ol' relaxin time too!

We went to the Clarence Pumpkin Farm on Thursday. During the week it is free! They have an entire carnival set up for the weekends which looked like a lot of fun. And Gavin probably would have enjoyed the rides. I guess we'll have to go next year too. We had fun playing on the slides, petting the animals, walking through a hay maze & pointing at all the balls {pumpkins}. Anything in a round shape is automatically a ball through Gavin's eyes. :) When picking our pumpkins we had to find just the right ones! There were so many to choose from too.

That night once Doug got home from school he insisted that Laura try Duff's. This was her third trip out here & by golly she is going to try these Buffalo chicken wings. :)
You'd think by her expression that she liked them, but she wasn't a taker. Something to do with ripping meat off of a bone with her teeth that turned her off. But she did agree that the flavor was pretty tasty.

Thursday night she & I headed downtown to the Sheas Theatre to see the broadway Mary Poppins. I haven't seen a broadway in years so I was super excited! And I just love Mary Poppins & all the great songs. The theatre was really pretty inside! We walked up the stairs, and up more stairs & when I thought we had made it, we had to go up one more flight of stairs to reach our seats. I was nervous we wouldn't be able to see, but our view was just fine! Laura did forget her glasses, but she remembered she had her prescription sunglasses in her purse. :) Once it went dark it was no biggie, but she forgot to take them off until I reminded her half way out of the theatre. :) The play was great! I loved that I knew most of the songs & it was fun to see how they adapted the cartoon parts from the movie to the stage. We had a great time!

Friday we decided to drive to Palmyra & check out the sites that she didn't get to do the last time she was here. The Sacred Grove in the fall is gorgeous! It was nice to spend some time there with my sister. It's so peaceful. We also went to the Hill Cumorah & the visitor center.

On our way back we stopped in Rochester at a really great mall. When Laura saw the carousel she couldn't wait to take Gavin. So off they went on a pony ride! Gavin really did enjoy himself. He just has a funny way of showing it for pictures. :)

Saturday we decided to stick around the house & just play. We played outside for a while swinging, riding the four wheeler. Even I gave it a whirl :)

Sunday came way too quick! Our last day together before she left. After church we carved our pumpkins on the front porch. Gavin kept trying to sit on top of them. Then he just decided to take a rest on the newspaper & lay there. Too funny! I think our pumpkins turned out great! Doug's is the big one. He said his got his teeth whitened! {not a dental student at all} ;) Laura's is on the left of Gavin, mine is below hers & Gavin's is the little baby pumpkin!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We had so much fun spending time with Aunt Laura! We already miss her like crazy! Thanks again for coming out to visit!

I miss you guys too! It's a bummer coming back to everyday life...if I was independently wealthy I would stay for as long as I was welcome! December isn't too far away.

PS thanks for mailing my charger back...my battery if finally getting low so I'm hoping it gets here soon : D
