The Shaw Family

Doug & I were married on October 6, 2005 in the Salt Lake Temple. We are currently living in the Dallas, Texas area. We have two sons, Gavin Douglas born September 18, 2009 & Liam Robert born October 14, 2011. We are so happy to be a family of four & love our boys so much! It is always one adventure after another in this house.

Senecca Lake

We spent the weekend up at Senecca Lake which is part of the Finger Lakes. The church owns some property up there & there just happens to be a house right on the lake that you can rent.

So off we went to enjoy ourselves with some of our friends. We were able to leave on Friday morning after Doug's only class & the 2 hour drive went by fairly quickly. Once we arrived some of the kiddos needed naps so while they were sleeping we put things away & chatted. They husbands went exploring & they found them selves some bows & arrows. I didn't pay much attention to it until Andy came in and announced that they were going to have target practice. Good thing his wife picked up on the hint of invitation to come & watch. ;) They were doing pretty good, but they got better once Steph announced what their prizes would be for actually hitting the target. ;) After round one, we ladies had had enough watching & wanted in on the action. Thank goodness for girls camp back in the day or else I would have been even more clueless on how to work the bow & arrow. Doug still had to give me some pointers though. I never hit the target. I don't think any of us girls did. Steph got pretty good at shooting the trees though. :) Who knew shooting would be so much fun?!

All in good form!

Steph, Tiffany, Camille & Me
Not the best form, but we did alright!

After the kids woke up, we changed into our swimsuits & hit the road for another hour drive. We went to Treman Falls State Park. It was so COOL! Literally. The water was only 60 degrees!

I didn't realize how cold that was until Travis came out from the water with goosebumps, shivers & pink skin. I think I'll be staying dry thanks!

Great form right? Well Travis was on the dive team in high school.
{there, that makes me feel a little better}

I made Doug jump & turn toward me so I could get a picture with his face. Thanks for the dramatic jump babe!

Well after watching the guys all go off the diving board, Steph & I both agreed that we didn't drive all this way to not go off. Steph went first & by all her shrieking I knew it was THAT cold! Do I jump or dive, jump or dive?

The water temp didn't just take my breath away, it froze my limbs! I could hardly swim to the side afterward. As cold as the water was, it was still a lot of fun jumping off in front of a beautiful waterfall.

When we got back to the house we were met with some more friends that drove up. We had dinner & then made our way to the backyard. Lawrence brought his guitar & I had no idea that so many could play. It was fun listening to them jam out.

It was so nice to be able to put Gavin to bed & have the entire night to ourselves! I was so excited that the house had a fire pit! Bring on the s'mores!

Trav & Steph roastin some mallows!

Camille & Andy
{This was their last weekend in Buffalo. What a great way to spend it!}

The rest of the evening hours were spent playing games, eating, talking, eating all the way until 4:00 AM!!! It has been awhile since I've been up that late. But I just couldn't go to bed with all the fun that was going on.

Of coarse Gavin didn't sleep in so after 3 hours of sleep I was up & wondering what to do with the kid so he didn't wake anyone else up. So off we went on a walk along the lake. It was beautiful! After returning we had the most yummy breakfast of waffles, strawberries, whip cream & eggs. Delicious! Sadly, we had to leave in order to get back in time for my hair appointments. But everyone else stayed to kayak, canoe, fish & go see the Whitmer farm. I guess that just gives us another reason to go back!

Looks like fun. I love the picture of all the women holding their bow and arrow, because 3 of you are pregnant.

OK that sounds like my kind of get away. Relax, eat lots of food and hang out with friends! It makes me want to get away one more time before winter comes!

What a wonderful place! Looks like everyone had a great time. Your diving into the ice cold water and shivering reminds me of one time when we went to Bear Lake and your dad said we all had to get in. He volunteered me to be first and even with a wet suit I couldn't stop shivering! Then no one else got in!!
