Here are some more pics of Gavin Douglas. Last night was our first night home and we survived. I was on baby duty last night and it was quite a humbling experience. Mom and G-ma went to sleep while I took Gavin down to study with Travis, Don, and I for our exam today. He did great sleeping the whole time in his bouncer with just a few grunts and squeaks. At about 1:00 AM it was time to go wake Mommy up to nurse. I went and picked him up and I could smell a stinky diaper. I thought I would be a good Daddy and get him all changed and ready before waking Mommy up. When I brought him into the nursery to unswaddle him he began to cry. I tried to go quick but it was at this point that one thing led to another. First of all I felt so bad because when I unwrapped him his back was soaked with sweat. I was in the middle of a crying diaper change when Gavin decided to spit up all over his changing table. By this time the cry was getting louder and woke Mommy up. Not as smooth as I thought it would go. Unfortunately that was not the end of it. With diaper soiled and Daddy trying to console the sad baby and cleaning up the spit up, the little turkey decided that was not enough and started to pee straight out the top of his diaper. Now I thought these diapers were made to catch that. So now I am trying to console a screaming baby hoping not to wake at least G-ma now while cleaning up spit up, pee and trying to change a diaper and sweaty cloths. Quite the humbling lesson in fatherhood. Thank goodness Mommy came to the rescue. Stay tuned for more adventures to come. Hope you like the pics.

He's so cute! You both look great!
He's such a cutie! And remember when we talked about those chicks that look awesome right after they have their baby. Yeah that's totally you!
Yes Gavin, I call on you! :) That was an entertaining story. Reminded me of Collin's massive poop story haha.
Congratulations Shaw Family! I am glad that everything has gone smoothly and that grandma is there to help (they're the best!) He is beautiful and we can't wait to have a play date over the Christmas break.
Beautiful! No good deed goes unpunished Doug!
Okay Doug you get a super dooper father award today, my 3 reasons...
1. you were studying for an exam 2 days after you have a baby (who does that?... wait, Doug!)
2. You let your wife sleep while you attempted changing a poopie that turned disastrous.
3. you blogged it and did a great job at it!
You are awesome!
Gavin is such a cutie and Rach, you look great!
Miss and love you guys!
Gavin is just breaking you in Doug!
What a handsome little devil! Congratulations to the Shaw family! Doug, way to go for helping out so much. I'm sure Rachel loves every minute of extra sleep! Thanks for all the updates, we can't wait to see you all over Christmas!

I loved the story, one of which I have lived over and over!!!! Sounds like you can compare Doug to Jerry, amazing! Keep up the good work, nothing like baptism by fire!

Wow, good job Doug! How did you do on that test by the way... You two really do have such a beautiful baby boy. I'm so so happy for you and wish so bad that I could be there to meet him and see you. Soon enough, I guess. Love ya
Great story Douglas! It's definately not going to be the last great story, that's for sure :)! I hope you did good on your test!
We sure miss you guys and can't wait to meet little Gavin soon enough!!
Rachel and Doug he is beautiful. Sounds like you guys are enjoying him.
Congratulations you guys!!! He is so darling!! Hey Doug maybe his back wasn't sweaty. This was happening to our little baby boy and we found out that he was peeing and it was running over his leg and making his back wet and his front would be dry. We tried all the diapers and found that Luvs were the only ones that held the pee in. It was so nice not to have to change his clothes every time he peed. Good Luck!! Also you should check out the book "On Becoming Baby Wise" Lexi slept with us until she was 13 month old and never slept through the night. A friend recommended this book when I was pregnant with Cooper and it has helped us so much. Cooper was sleeping through the night by 8 weeks. You guys are going to be great parents.
Love,
Josh & Aubri
Rach he is DARLING! Congrats! Wow, how are you doing? I hope all is going good. You two are some stinkin cute parents! I am so happy for you.
Rachel, you look absolutely glowing! Congratulations on your beautiful family!!
doug that is a fabulous story. hopefully you didn't get too discouraged to try again! also, i am so glad that you haven't decided to make your blog private. i keep trying to see how all the ol' buffalonians are doing via blogs...rejected at every turn because i have "not been invited to view [this] blog." i would be very sad if i coudn't stalk you guys.
while i have your attention...someone once told me (i think it was an ultrasound tech, so take it for what it's worth), that the way they sleep when they are brand new like that is often how they were situated in the tummy. kind of cool...if it's ture, that is.
congrats! miss you guys!
