RoAd tRiP!

On Friday June 6, 2008 we started off on our journey across the country. Here are some pictures of our fun experiences along the way. We had so much fun seeing family & friends. It definitely made the long drive worth it. (if you click on the pics, they will enlarge)

Let me just say that these trucks are HuGE & UnCOmfOrTaBLe! We did have a good time together though. Our first stop.....

We stayed with my sister-in-law Becki & her 5 kids. (My brother was out of town-bummer) We went hiking & had a picnic at the Red Rocks. It was a BLasT! We also went & saw 'Kung Fu Panda' which is a darling movie. While in Colorado, we realized that we accidently, well I accidently left our passports in the file cabinet which was packed in the middle of the truck. You would think that wouldn't pose such a problem, but we were going to be driving through Canada on our way into Buffalo. So...Doug being the trooper he is, climbed in, over, under, behind everything to get to those passports. I have such a forgiving & patient husband. :) We had a great time in Colorado & already miss you guys like crazy! Thanks Becki for your Travel Survival Kit! So we left Sunday morning for...

Omaha, Nebraska! We were quite pleased with the drive in. It was so green everywhere! We spent Sunday night with our friends Julianne & Jayson Clark. They have the cutest home & seem really happy in their new place. Jayson had to go to school on Monday so Julianne showed us around. We went to this cute little shopping villa that had tons of fun little shops, restaurants etc. There was this candy shop that gave out FrEE pieces of fresh fudge. We of course had to try it & it was FaNtAsTiC!

That afternoon we took a short drive to IOWA to stay with our friends Mitch & Robyn Gubler. When I say short, it was still 5 hours, but it is amazing how short that seems after you've driven 10 & 8 hour drives. We went out to eat at TeXAs RoAdHOuSe & then they drove us around town. They took us to a park that they had been to for a BBQ 2 weeks prior. It was completely covered in water!! (that is what those pics are of) They had to help sandbag for people & some streets were closed due to the flooding. Scary! We went & saw their home to be & it is so nice! It was so great to just hang out & not DRIVE!!! Thanks Mitch & Robyn! We left on Tuesday morning & headed to...

The Becker family was kind enough to let us spent 2 nights in their lovely home. We went to this really neat park that has a little lake for swimming, paddle boats etc. They also had this SpLaSH PaD that was really cool! It was fun playing with little Ellie & seeing her interact with everyone. She is great at making friends & made us feel right at home. Emily & I stayed up late talking & catching up. I love that! You guys are great & seem so happy! Thanks for a great time!

So we left Michigan Thursday and drove another 5 hours through Canada. Why is it that when you go through the border they always have this attitude that makes you think you've done something wrong? :) Oh well. We got through just fine & oddly enough I felt almost home just by seeing a simple sign.

WE MADE IT! We went from Sandy, Utah to Buffalo, New York in 6 days & we couldn't have asked for a better trip. We had great weather the entire way, fabulous places to sleep & mostly, wonderful people to share our experience with. Our journey to & from each stop was so fun! It was great for me to see my friends in their new homes & see how they have adapted to a new life. Thank you to everyone we stayed with! It meant more to us than you know. We love you & miss you!
