Pirate Murder Mystery

A friend from the ward, Kimberley asked me if I wanted to co-host a murder mystery party with her for adults for Halloween. I was totally on board as I've never even been to one before. I pretty much just helped with the decorations & character assignments as I was clueless how these things worked. We had a lot of really great ideas & I must say that everything came together perfectly.

The food table was probably my favorite because of the sails that we were able to make with some tree trunks.
I love how the banner looked with the red table cloth behind it.

Fish net with sea shells, lots of candles, rubies, pearls & chains were among the decor.

I just had to keep the costume contest going so we had some ballots for everyone to fill out. And the prizes were my tasty caramel apples.
It was a lot of fun dressing up. Doug was a crazed deserted pirate named Jim Pistol (who was in love with my character before he went crazy, but currently had no idea who I was other then a voodoo queen.)  I was Madame Zuzu (the captains previous chef that stayed on the deserted island & became a voodoo lady in hopes to find a cure for her one true love Jim Pistol & convince him of his love for her) And the best part was we didn't share our info with each other so Doug was completely clueless why I was always around him at the party. Haha!
I hit up the GoodWill to find most everything for our costumes. The day of the party I was gone setting up & told Doug he was on his own to put his together. I couldn't have been more impressed. He looked 100% dirty & gross & awesome! I really am one lucky wife to have a husband that loves dressing up as much, well maybe not as much as I do, but is always willing.

I had a blast trying to witch-ify myself. I used the voodoo lady from Pirates of the Caribbean for reference.

It was a riot watching everyone show up in character & seeing how they interpreted their roles. We just mingled & ate waiting for everyone to come. We couldn't start until everyone had arrived.

Kenningtons & their love child.

The Jensens were both given the roles of opposing captains so they had to dual it out all night. :)

The Johnsons as the colonials. (Meesa made a legit hoop skirt. Amazing)

The Trockels went all out in their island tribal garb. My favorite dressed couple of the night. They seriously looked so creepy.

The Mays as pirate crew.

I didn't get every couple there, but thankfully we did get a group shot at the end.
After it started we just had to go around & start getting to know each other. We had envelopes wit clues, tools, weapons, poison etc to help us on our individual goals. But the end goal was to find out who killed the original Captain.

Aubrey & Carrie giving their best "Arrrg!"

Cozing up to anyone to get what you want/need. :)

Plotting & planning.

Looks like the captains (enemies) are getting a little friendly in the corner.

These guys figured out the right thing to do. Just sit & let others come to you. Haha! I must say by the end of the night we were all sweaty & tired from standing for a few hours.

Sharing secrets & making promises.
I'm not going to lie, there were some major awkward moments & some moments where I didn't have a clue what was going on. And it was hard to stay in character the whole night. But all in all it really was such a fun night with some really fun people.

The Flacks did an amazing job hosting this party & it will be hard to top.
I just love adult Halloween parties.
