Well looky looky. I'm a whole month behind again. How the heck does this keep happening?!?! Grr! I guess I can tell myself that I'm living in the moments. Haha! Anyhow, here is the smorgishborg post of pictures documenting the rest of August.
{BOWLING}
My friend McKenzie invited us along to go bowling one morning. Apparently this alley has FREE summer bowling for kids every day through September. So glad I found out about this for next summer. The kids had a 'ball' tee-hee!
Liam is so independent & kept insisting that he carry his own bowling ball. Thank goodness he never dropped it on his foot.
Me, McKay & Gavin
Bowling Buddies
Quinn & Liam lost interest pretty quick, but they were content eating & drinking all our food.
And climbing on the ramps.
Kenz was quite the bowler. Apparently a college course does the trick. ;)
Such a fun play date with our friends.
{LIBRARY}
NOVA's childrens library has become a favorite place to visit. They have weekly story time which is always fun, but their book selection alone is worth it.
They had a Back To School display & the boys couldn't resist getting their picture taken in the bus. Ok, neither could I. It was pretty cute.
It's always more fun with friends too. James & Liam pretty much ran around like crazy. Until they spotted a HUGE iguana through the glass window. They thought it was pretty cool. I was just glad to be on the opposite side of the glass. :)
(Can you see it right behind James? HUGE!)
I got Liam out of bed one morning & this is how I found him. I asked if he was Wreck It Ralph & he thought that was pretty funny!
My first attempt at a hollow back handstand. Pathetic. And oh so much hard then they look.
My cute messy mouths love their mac & cheese!
One night Dad was staying late at school so after dinner we decided to hit up Target. No lists, nothing to buy, just go get popcorn & roam the toy isle. By far one of Gavin's favorite things to do.
I always see such fun ways to paint your nails & I never try them. I decided to give it a go this time & here's my attempt at a chevron nail done with tape & zig zag scissors. It turned out ok as long as you didn't look too closely.
Monkeying around
Doug & I went on a group date with some friends on a Friday night. We went to dinner at the Yard House which was really good & a fun atmosphere.
Love this man of mine so much! Having date nights is so important to us both & I just love spending time together one on one.
We couldn't resist taking a pictures of the guys as they were all color coordinated in their greens & plaids.
(Tyler, Doug, Bubba & Matt)
And since the guys got a pic, why not us ladies.

{MIAMI DOLPHINS GAME}
The library was giving out free tickets to one of the pre-season football games so we jumped on it & made a night of it with friends having dinner first at Chili's & hitting up the game. We have only ever been to one other pro football game & it was a pre-season game for the Buffalo Bills a few years ago. It's fun to say you've been to an NFL game & the kids loved spotting the dolphins all around.
(The Wendt's, us & the Steel's)
Such a fun group of friends.
Liam was in heaven & was glued to the field & big screen watching the football game. This kid has found his new love I believe. Now, if we turn on the TV he immediately asks for, "foooootball"! Love his touch down gesture too. Gavin on the other hand was quite fond of the cheerleaders. He couldn't take his little eyes off of them. Oh my. And at one point he said, "I want to see the cheerleaders." I asked him why & he replied, "Because I like their 'puffy' things!". I about died. One of the dads that heard him said, "So do I, so do I." Haha! I further inquired what he meant about such named 'puffy' things. Turns out it was their pom poms that he liked. Phew!
Gavin, Tanner & McKay
We didn't last past half time as it was late & the boys needed to go to bed. But we had a great time while we lasted.
Introducing my best friend, Stephanie's little miss....
OLIVE ANN EVANS
August 26th, 2013
Isn't she adorable?! I was sooo excited & happy about her birth, but I was also really torn at the fact that I couldn't be there. I hate the distance that is between us, but am so thankful for modern technology of skype, facetime, texting, email etc. It definitely helps you feel more apart of these special moments.
And I'm not going to lie, seeing this sweet girl is making me REALLY want a daughter of my own. I told Steph it was a good thing I wasn't there, because I might just steal her away. :)
So happy for my dear friend & her new addition to their family.
{BEACH DAY}
We often take advantage of living so close to the beach & visit it frequently on Saturday mornings. Gotta love the Florida life.
Me & Rozannah were twinners. Same suit, wearing glasses, hats & side braids. Haha!
Gavin the snorkeling ninja
The water was perfect for teaching the kids how to surf. :)
Even Aunt Laura gave it go.
The only downside to going to the beach....sand everywhere! The cleaning up & showering off is the worst. For us parents anyways. The boys LOVE it!
Nakie bum bums! Love their tan lines.
I was gone one evening for something & Doug sent me these pictures of the boys finger painting. It makes me so happy that these boys have a Dad that it willing to do this kind of thing with them. So cute!
I can't get over Liam's expressions. Such a cutie patootie!
Gavin still takes naps every so often, but it is quite the struggle to get him to do so. Some may think I shouldn't even attempt, but you can tell when he needs more rest. He easily 'loses it' when he's tired. And that I'm not willing to deal with. So some times that calls for me to snuggle down with him on my bed. I can't express the joy & love that fills my heart in these tender, quiet moments with Gavin. I love him oh so much!
{BOOK CLUB: MORTAL INSTRUMENTS}
For book club Rozannah picked the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Which was a great read by the way! And it just so happened that the movie came out during her month. So she planned a fun night of going to the movie first before going to her home to have the book discussion. Such a fun thing to do to change it up a little. But that wasn't enough for fun Rozannah. She requested that we all dress the part of the Shadow hunters wearing black & showing off some 'runes' tattoos. Well if you know me, I'm all over dressing up. I think it is so fun to be crazy, creative & fun with this sort of thing. Needless to say, I went all out. Haha!
Laura I found the runes tattoos at Hot Topic (such a creepy store when you have your littles with you)
And thankfully Laura had some biker boots laying around in her closet for me to borrow. They were pretty dusty as they've never been worn down here in Florida before. :)

{FISHING}
One Saturday morning we decided to split up & have one on one dates with our boys. Doug took Gavin fishing with his classmate Glenn & his son Zachary.
Gavin loved steering the boat.
Zachary & Glenn
It was a really HOT day & Gavin kept asking if he could swim. So Doug let him jump in & swim around. I about freaked when he showed me this because they were fishing in the everglades. Yes, that's right, alligators live there for crying out loud!!!! Can we say live bait?!
While they were fishing, I took Liam to the beach. We had a great time playing in the sand & in the water. It was the perfect beach day. There were no waves & there was even a sand bar a ways out that was just right for little Liam to play on & stay cool.
As much fun as it is to be together as a family, it was awesome spending time with our boys one on one. I think it's so important for our kids to get us all to themselves now & then.

What a lot of fun it was to look at your August review and to see all the fun things you, Doug and the kiddos do. Makes me smile to see the boys energy and zest for life. Thanks for posting. Love you all so much.
