I've never been a big runner. And I still don't consider myself to be one because I'm not very fast. But I have been doing it more this past year & actually enjoy it. I've never ran an organized race so when my friend Holly brought up this Mud Run that was in Miami I figured why not? It'll be more fun filled with obstacles & not just straight running. I knew I could handle that.
We had a big group of girls that put together a team & we named ourselves the Davie Diva! (Davie is the city we all live in) We all bought pink tee shirts & decorated/designed them to our liking. I used a Pinterest idea to make mine & it turned out really cute. You just lay down your letters & then spray bleach over the top & when you peel the letters up you get this:
Pretty cute huh? This would be a good idea for family reunions, girls camp, little kids shirts or whatever really. I was glad it turned out as I didn't start making mine until the night before at like 10 o'clock. Eek!
Here I am all pink & clean before leaving for the race.
The Davie Divas!!!
Little did everyone know how intense miss Holly would be when it came to the mud pits. That girl knows how to throw down! I consider myself able to hold my own, but she is one tough cookie who can throw you into a head lock pretty darn quick. Ha ha!
It wasn't until about half way through that they had all the crazy amounts of mud. Which makes sense now, as it was SO hard to run with all the mud caked on. I felt like my feet were cement bricks!
It took us over an hour to finish but that's because we would get stuck playing around in the mud pits wrestling each other. I'm telling you, it's a good thing it was a female only race because men would be having a hay day watching or getting involved in mud with ladies. :) The male volunteers were loving it I'm sure. haha!
So it wasn't until the end of the race that we caught a glimpse of our families & the rest of the pics follow us through the finish line.
Yes, I'm a spaz! Going in for the last climb & as we're on the down side of this hill we see the massive army crawl. No chance of not getting muddy with this one girls!
Can ya dig it?!
And I did it! I ran my first 5K, got real dirty & loved every minute of it.
The Davie Divas gone DIRTY!
I'm so glad Holly did this race with me as it would not have been the same fun experience without her. This girl is the best workout partner anyone could have. I'm really going to miss her when she moves.
Our cute kids came to support their mommas.

It seriously made me so happy to have my little family come & support me. I loved seeing their smiling faces as I approached the finish. Thanks Doug, Gavin, Liam, Laura & Kimmi for coming out!

What a fun 5K! Having your fam. come watch/ support you is really fun huh? It makes a big difference for me.
Oh FUN! I would love to do something like that one day. Thanks for the short tutorial on how to make the shirt! I'm going to keep that in mind. So easy, and cute! How did the shoes wash up? Did you drive an hour home like that??? You guys look great!
