Utah: Home for the Holidays

Well we made it to Utah after a LONG day of traveling. We had to make an emergency landing in Detroit due to a passenger having a seizure on board. It was pretty crazy because the guy was sitting right behind us so we saw the whole thing go down. Anyhow, once we got back in the air we knew for sure we would miss our connection in Phoenix, but to our amazement, they held the flight for us. Yes, me, Doug, Gavin & Liam. I have never ran so fast through an airport in my life. All the passengers were irritated I'm sure having to wait for us in the first place & then to see a family with two screaming, tired kids board was an added bonus to their attitudes. :) They were nice enough to give us our seats all by each other though.(the last row of the plane) Gavin finally crashed the last 10 minutes of the flight and we have never been so happy to be in Utah & done traveling for a couple weeks at least.

I was thrilled to get home when we did because the Annual Girl Party was the very next day! I love & look forward to this party every year & thankfully I have never had to miss it. Seeing my aunts & cousins is such a blast & we really do have a great time chatting, eating, crafting, eating, singing, eating etc. We always have a special dinner all around the table together. I don't know the exact number of years that we've been doing this, but something around 15 years. Isn't that awesome?!

Gavin was thrilled that he got to be apart of the 'Girls Only' picture!

Singing Christmas Carols around the piano.

The Natural History Museum opened up at the University of Utah so we decided to go & check it out with Doug's family. It is absolutely beautiful!

I just love my Utah mountains! I seriously miss them a lot. Isn't the building gorgeous?!

Gavin had a lot of fun running around checking things out. I thought he might think the skulls to be scary, but he went right up to them & started touching them. :)

He has been watching the Princess & the Frog so when he saw this he was excited about the crocodile!

Even Uncle Danny & Aunt Whitney couldn't resist the fun play zone!

Gavin had a blast playing with Uncle Danny at the kids corner.

A few days later both of my brothers & their families arrived in town & we all met up downtown at the Gallivan Center for some ice skating.

It was quite picturesque if I do say so. Half way into it it began to lightly snow. I felt like we were in a movie. And then we heard a bunch of cheering & it turned out a couple got engaged in the middle of the ice rink. So cute!

Gavin LOVED ice skating! It was hysterical watching him try to walk in those skates. Doug got quite the workout hauling him around the ice. Check out this awesome video we got of Gavin trying to skate his little heart out.

Probably the funniest thing ever right?!

(Danny & Whitney joined us for the fun night too)

One of the days we spent all day downtown SLC. We first headed to the hotel that my brother Jason was staying at for some swimming. This little guy didn't quite make it there without falling asleep in the car. And it was only 10:30 AM too. But hey, a nap is a nap & I'm glad he got one in at least.

Gavin is quite the little fish & has no fear. He just kept jumping in over & over. He would have done so all by himself if we hadn't been yelling at him to stop. :)

Gavin & his cousin Logan have quite the bond. Ever since Gavin was a baby Logan has always been so good at playing with him. They are best little buds even with a six year difference in age & it is so cute to watch them together.

After swimming we all rode Trax to the Gateway to catch a movie. My sister Laura, Doug & I took all the little nieces & Gavin to see the new Chipmunk movie. They all loved it! Gavin sat eyes glued to the big screen the entire time. :) So fun! (no pics) After the show we headed to the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Yum! It was such a fun day spending time with each other. I left Liam with G'ma Shaw all day long. It was the first time I have ever left him that long with anyone other than Doug. It was really hard on me not having him with us, but we definitely were able to enjoy our time more without him.

This is what Liam did most of the trip. Slept like a little angel!
Both sets of grandparents babysat a lot while we were in Utah. I must admit that we took full advantage of them too. :) Thanks guys for so many nights out without our children. We really needed it!

The weather in Utah was oddly warm for being December. We took advantage of it & headed to the park in my parents neighborhood a few times.

Even Liam came with us once. Isn't he the cutest little bear?

Gavin loves his Bumpa! They had a blast playing with each other on the playground.

Doug & my dad threw the football around too. It really was such a gorgeous day!
