Our Family

The Shaw Family

Doug & I were married on October 6, 2005 in the Salt Lake Temple. We are currently living in the Dallas, Texas area. We have two sons, Gavin Douglas born September 18, 2009 & Liam Robert born October 14, 2011. We are so happy to be a family of four & love our boys so much! It is always one adventure after another in this house.

Visitors

I love it when I get to have a post titled 'visitors'! My brother Hyrum & his wife Anne & their two girls, Sophia & Norah came out to visit us last week. Neither of them have ever been before so it was a lot of fun showing them the sites. Thankfully the weather decided to cooperate for a while & we had some beautiful sunny & warm days.

First off as soon as I picked them up from the airport we drove over to the school to show them where Doug spends the majority of his time.

Anne was being a good example to show her Sophia how easy & fun it is to sit in the dentist chair. (she has her first appointment later this month & they thought this would be a good introduction)

Sophie looking at Uncle Doug like, "Are you crazy?! Get that thing away from me".

I just can't help but laugh when I look at this picture. Her expression is priceless! She was very good & let Dr. Doug count all her teeth.

Even little Norah was a good patient

Thursday we went to Niagara Falls. They don't have their passports so we stayed on the American side. The entire way walking from the car little Sophie just kept saying, "Where is the waterfall?!?!". So cute!

As you can see from the pictures the sun was shining & we didn't even have coats on. Love it!

Gavin & Sophia
It was so cute watching them walk together. They would start holding hands on their own & it was to die for.

Just playing & reading books back at the house.

And this is what happens when you give my son an oreo. Needless to say, he loved it!

Friday wasn't the best day so we just ran downtown to the waterfront to see the naval ship & submarine. I felt bad that we were doing all these things without Doug, but he had to be at school both Thursday & Friday.

Sophia striking a pose!

I love that both of their mouths are open.

When Doug got home we went out to dinner at Duff's. Hyrum was very excited to try Buffalo's wings. He & Anne both loved it! He even tried the Death sauce & ate two entire wings dipped in it. Didn't seem to phase him at all. I'd say that's a stomach of steel. :) Sadly, no pictures.

Bath time was a blast for all three kiddos. They had a ball bathing & playing together. There wasn't much room but they made it work just fine.

Gavin saying, "All done".

Saturday we left in the morning to drive to Palmyra. It was another gorgeous day to enjoy being outdoors.

Hill Cummorah visitors center. They were in the middle of re-painting the mural behind us.
I just love Anne's face trying to smile yet keep hold of her toddler.

Yes that's right! Our child is on a leash. He loves to run around, but doesn't listen or stay put very well so we were grateful for Uncle Dave & his gift to Gavin last Christmas. It got a lot of use that day.

Tada! The Palmyra Temple is in the background.

The Sacred Grove
We had ourselves a nice little picnic for lunch to finish off the day & on the way back we of coarse had to stop at the Chill n Grill for some ice cream.

It was so much fun having my brother & his family come out. It was way too short of a trip & we miss them like crazy already! It's times like these that really put into perspective how important family is. Thank you guys for coming! We love you.
