Dr. Shaw D.D.S. well...in the making!

The time has arrived....school is in session! Doug has been going through orientation the last week & will start his regular classes soon. Today was a special day for Doug & his fellow classmates. It was the WhiTE cOAt CeREmoNy! This is a presentation for families of what to expect over the 4 years of dental school at UB. It was really neat to see all the stats on the application process. UB had over 2200 applicants for the class of 2012! They only accepted 89. I am so proud of Doug & his accomplishment of getting in! They also warned us of the long & many hours that our students would be spending revolving around school. And that it's not that they don't love us, they are just busy & exhausted. So...I guess Doug is off the hook when it comes to dish duty! ;) The best part of the ceremony was saved best for last. As each person came up on stage, they announced each student by name, where they were from & what college/university they had attended. Also, giving them their first white coat! It was a great initiation into their new profession. Doug looked so cute up there! It was fun picturing him as an actual dentist. :)

This was a slide they showed for all the families. I thought it was great & wanted to share it with our loved ones. :)

Congratulations on the beginning... Tell Doug he is lucky, Jayson has to wear a blue coat until his 4th year and then he upgrades to white :) How is the job hunting going?

That's awesome. It will be a lot of work for him, but he'll be great.

That's so cool to actually see him in the white coat. It's really happening! Good luck to Doug in his first semester! And good luck to you surviving it with and without him. Love ya!

I'm excited to watch and see the next four years as they unfold! It'll probably seem like forever and then when it comes to the end you'll feel like it went so fast! I'm proud of both of you! It takes a special kind of wife to support their husband through Dental school, or any school really, but at any rate, my hats off to both of you!

Doug,
It was so...exciting to see you in your white coat! What a fun way to start dental school with such a ceremony. Loved the look - especially on a buffalo! Way to go.
